First Year Success by Showcasing Local Artists

Boston – April 27, 2005 – Flair Bridesmaid Boutique, a Back Bay venture specializing couture bridesmaid dresses that can be worn again, is celebrating its first year anniversary with an invitation-only exhibit featuring work by local photographers, Liz Linder and Andrea Fischman.

“When I first came up with the idea for the store, I was a high-tech recruiter struggling to make quota in the flagging economy. I was new to Boston and my husband was self-employed as a consultant. People thought I was crazy to take the risk of opening a store under such conditions,” reflect Ms. Colon. “But the risk paid off and one year after opening on Boylston Street, Flair has successfully carved a niche in the competitive bridal industry by offering a huge selection of unique, versatile and beautiful dresses that, according to my customers, they actually look forward to wearing again to other events.”

To celebrate her success and bring attention to her fellow female entrepreneurs in Boston, Flair will highlight collections from both Linder and Fischman, both whom specialize in capturing the subtle but powerful moments often missed in the flurry of big events.

“Combining classic elegance with a hip sense of style, Liz Linder and Andrea Fischman capture the details of the day most hosts don’t have time to see in the rush to put on the perfect party,” says Colon. “I am such a fan of each of their styles, that I wanted to use this moment in Flair’s life to honor their work. I think everyone will agree these two women represent Boston’s most talented artists.”

Liz Linder is recognized for her edgy portraits of musicians. Her work has been seen on numerous CD’s, promotional materials and in magazines. Ms. Linder’s new series ‘The Boyfriend Project’, will debut this spring at Samson Projects in the South End. Andrea Fischman is best known for photojournalism. Among her most recent editorial work, Ms. Fischman shot the cover of the Boston Globe Magazine in 2005.
